Polymathica will or will not come into existence because of our ability to find and properly deploy our first 300 Charter Members. While there are no guarantees, you make from opportunities what you will, Charter Members, by being involved from the beginning, are well positioned to achieve some of the best results of all P.E.N. Members. While those who arrive later may find that their preferred role is already occupied, Charter Members are presented with nearly virgin territory.
Charter Members will make a commitment to recruit 360 Polymathicans per year for two years. Once completed, Charter Members will have free P.E.N. membership for life. That is our thanks for being one of Polymathica's midwives.
Also, we will be creating a series of online courses that, when completed, will comprise a three semester credit, graduate level online course, entitled 'The Transformation'. It will impart to the student a superior knowledge of futurity that can be used as a guide to formulating a successful plan for their unique, finely crafted life. It will also provide a foundation of common cultural literacy for P.E.N. Members. For Charter Members this will be made available at no cost. Polymathic Institute online courses are scheduled to be offered at 330 USD per semester credit, so this is not an inconsequential perquisite of Charter Membership.
There will be as many ways to find 720 Polymathicans over two years as there will be Charter Members. The most direct way will be to create a Polymathica Group and forum and attach a personal blog to it. While the Polymathican blog, MichaelWFerguson.blogspot.com was not optimized for traffic, it has easily met the goal of 360 subscribers in the last year, though they are currently in a Mailchimp list and need to be transfered to Polymathica. A blog that generates 10,000 pageviews per month at current signup rates will create 1,000 subscriptions per year. So, this is not a difficult requirement.
Again, there will be as many ways to monetize Charter Membership as there will be Charter Members. The general principle will be that the creation of a robust set of access opportunities to a well organized Polymathica will allow them to cost effectively provide appropriate, niche products, services and content to Polymathicans.
Membership
The only obligation of Charter Members is to acquire 360 subscribers to The Polymath e-mail list per year for two years. However, each Charter Member will pay $300 against a $100 refund per Member acquired. Our experience, so far, is that we get one Member for every 100 subscribers, so unless the quality of the subscriptions is poor, the Charter Member should get more refunded than the $300 that they prepaid.
We ask for the prepayment because from our experience, many who say that they are going to participate simply don't. We expend time and money on the person and get nothing in return. Other Charter Members rely on each Charter Member meeting their expected performance. The prepayment guarantees that if a Charter Member does not follow through, the cost of their abandonment will be theirs, not ours. In fact, the forfeited prepayment will be used to find a replacement Charter Member.
